Painted Boxes

My sister and I used to paint craft boxes as kids. We placed our jewelry and special memorabilia inside. As an adult, on occasion my mother would send me seasonal fresh fruits which came in wooden boxes. I decided to paint on them. It started with one and then grew to five. Each box is made for someone special and has a theme. There are five individual hand-painted panels, with an interior glass shelf for placing small objects like cards and letters or other gems on top or underneath. They take several months to complete. The “Ireland Box” (a wedding gift) includes a diorama of grazing horses and sheep (under the glass). The 1st Year Baby Boxes, shown here, are larger, with scenes depicting moments of the baby’s first year, such as their first dog, first birthday, first time on a swing. “Foodie Box” represents just that, favorite foods and restaurants. “Nancy’s Box” presents the people, memories, celebrations and familiar settings in her life. If you are interested in a customized box made especially for someone or in a specific theme, please be mindful these take some time, with five hand-painted panels, artistic resourcing and deliberation, so must be ordered a year in advance.
